Man’s Decomposing Body Found In Kano Well

The Kano State Fire Service has recovered the body of an unidentified man from a well in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was confirmed in a statement by spokesman for the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi,

According to the statement, the incident came to light around 4:15 p.m. when the department’s central control room received an emergency call from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kwalli Police Division.

He stated that the control room reported that a lifeless body had been spotted in a well located at an uncompleted building in the Kadama Bakin Titi area.

Abdullahi noted that the Fire Service rescue team promptly arrived on the scene at about 4:40 p.m. and upon arrival, the team members observed dried bloodstains around the well. Following inspection, they discovered the decomposing body of a man estimated to be around 25 years old.

He further said the rescue team successfully retrieved the body and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, Deputy Commanding Officer (DCO2) of Kumbotso Police Division, for further investigation.

“Today, Saturday, 2nd November 2024, at approximately 16:15 hours, the central control room of the department received a call for emergency assistance from the DPO of Kwalli Police Division.”

“Our team arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 16:40 hours and noticed some dried blood stains around the well. When the rescue team peered into the well, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, approximately 25 years old, whose identity remains unknown, and who was unfamiliar to residents in the area.

“The body was swollen, indicating that he must have been in the well for the last four days or thereabouts, according to local residents.

“Our rescue team subsequently removed the lifeless body from the well and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of Kumbotso Police Division,” the statement read.
