Nigeria and India have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cultural, economic, and customs cooperation between the two nations.
The agreements were formalised on Friday in Abuja by Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dumoma Ahmed, and India’s Secretary of Economic Relations, Dammu Ravi.
In his remarks, Ahmed praised the strong partnership between Nigeria and India, citing their shared history, cultural ties, and mutual commitment to democracy and economic growth.
“The MoUs we are signing today in the areas of cultural exchange, customs, and many diverse areas are symbols of our shared vision for growth, innovation, and sustainable development,” Ahmed said.
He also highlighted recent diplomatic engagements, including President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the G20 Summit and the upcoming visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as evidence of deepening ties between the two nations.
Ahmed stressed the importance of implementing the agreements effectively to maximise their benefits.
“Let me emphasise that the success of these MoUs depends not only on the agreements we sign today but also on the commitment to ensuring the implementation of their provisions.
“I am confident that the relevant stakeholders from both countries will work together to ensure the realisation of this great milestone for the benefit of our people,” he added.
