Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for the construction of the 2.7km Garage Junction-Okefia-Lameco road in Osogbo, the state capital.

Obasanjo, during a visit to the state, described the road as a transformative project that has elevated Osogbo’s status and surpassed the achievements of Adeleke’s predecessors.

He praised the governor for silencing critics who doubted his ability due to his well-known love for dancing.

Speaking during the road’s inauguration, Obasanjo said:
“Governor Adeleke has not only transformed Osogbo but has changed the narrative in the history of the Yoruba race, both at home and in the diaspora. The development of Osun is integral to the entire Yoruba race, given that Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba civilization, is in this state. Ignore what your predecessors failed to do and focus on taking Osun to greater heights.”

Obasanjo noted that Adeleke’s achievements within two years in office have proven his critics wrong, stating: “He has shown that he is not only a good dancer but also a great performer.”

Governor Adeleke, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s economy through infrastructure development, pledging to continue delivering on his agenda.

In a separate event on Wednesday morning, Obasanjo visited 94-year-old industrialist and philanthropist Chief Yusuf Amuda Lawal, popularly known as Obelawo, at his home in Osogbo.

The former president prayed for longevity and good health for the nonagenarian in the presence of family and associates, including Chief Oyewole Fasawe.

Obasanjo departed the state shortly after the visit, lauding Osun’s progress under Adeleke’s administration.
