The sensitive materials for the conduct of the November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo on Monday arrived at the state office of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) located in the Alagbaka area of Akure, the state capital.
It was learnt that the materials included ballot papers, results sheets and others which are essential for the conduct of the election.
The spokesperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Temitope Akanmu, confirmed the arrival of the materials.
Akanmu disclosed that the distribution of the sensitive materials would commence by Thursday.
He said leaders of all political parties participating in the election would be invited for inspection and assessment of the materials before they would be distributed to the local government areas.
โSo, by Thursday, we would commence its distribution after the party leaders have inspected the materials in the presence of INEC and security agents,โ he said.
A tweet on the commissionโs X handle had said the sensitive materials arrived at Akure Airport on Monday.
The commission tweeted: โSensitive materials for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday 16th November 2024 have arrived in Akure, the State capital, and received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigeria Air force.โ
