PDP Appoints Amah Abraham To Head 11-Member Reconciliation Committee In Abia

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State chapter has approved the constitution of a State Reconciliation Committee for the party.

The 11-member committee has Elder Amah Abraham as Chairman, Bar. Bob Chidozie Ogu as Secretary.

The Abia PDP has been grappling with internal discord since the 2023 general elections, after suffering defeat to the Labour Party.

The constitution of the State Reconciliation Committee was contained in a statement on Friday by State Publicity Secretary, Eric Dwyse Ikwuagwu.

Other members of the committee include Rt. Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, Mrs. Love Ezema, Lady Ijeoma Okorie, Lady Gift Eugene, Sir Tony Ezebuiro, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, Rt. Hon. Bar Phillip Okey Igwe-Esq, Rt. Hon. Bishop Kennedy Njoku and all the members of the Abia State House of Assembly elected under the platform of the PDP.

According to the statement, the committee will identify and assess the grievances and concerns expressed by party members and stakeholders. This process will include gathering feedback through surveys, interviews, and open forums to ensure that all voices are heard.

It also stated that the committee will facilitate constructive dialogue between conflicting parties within the organization. This may involve organizing meetings or mediation sessions aimed at fostering understanding, cooperation, and collaboration among members.

Eric Ikwuagwu explained that based on the identified grievances and facilitated discussions, the committee will develop actionable strategies and recommendations to address the issues. These strategies should promote unity, strengthen party cohesion, and enhance collective decision-making.

The statement further informed that the committee will establish mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of reconciliation measures and evaluate their effectiveness over time. This will include setting benchmarks and timelines for progress, as well as adjusting strategies as necessary based on feedback and evolving circumstances.

It also revealed that the committee will compile a comprehensive report detailing its findings, discussions, and recommended actions for the party leadership. This report should be presented to the relevant authorities within the party and made accessible to all members to promote transparency and accountability in the reconciliation process.

The PDP disclosed that the committee shall work closely with His Excellency Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, who is the Abia representative at the PDP National Reconciliation Committee, for further guidance and support.
