The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), under the leadership of National President Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has announced a 40-day period of fasting and prayer aimed at seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s hardships.
The campaign will start on January 6, 2025, and end with a national prayer gathering in Abuja on February 14, 2025.
Bishop Oke, joined by PFN Deputy President Archbishop John Praise Daniel, told journalists on Thursday that the PFN is mobilising Pentecostal churches, Christians, and all willing Nigerians to participate in the initiative, which also leads up to PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference in Abuja from February 10 to 14.
The event is themed ‘The Rebirth of a Great Nation: Nigeria is Great.’
“We believe that the same God who delivered Nineveh is alive today and will hear our cry,” said Bishop Oke, adding that prayer and fasting are vital to healing the nation.
“Nigeria’s challenges are our collective responsibility—not just that of the leaders, but also of the citizens. Through cooperation and commitment, we can bring Nigeria out of hardship.”
Reflecting on Nigeria’s difficulties, Bishop Oke described the country as being in a “painful process,” like a mother about to deliver, with hope for a “new Nigeria” to emerge.
Archbishop Daniel expressed optimism, stating, “No matter the challenges, Nigeria is on the brink of achieving greatness.”
He expressed faith that through prayer, issues like kidnapping and banditry would be resolved, and Nigeria would rise as a model nation.
The PFN conference will feature prominent Nigerians addressing national issues and sharing insights on solutions to the country’s challenges.
