VP Shettima, Ngige In Attendance As Senate Holds Valedictory Session For Late Ifeanyi Ubah

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and former Anambra State governor, Chris Ngige were in attendance on Tuesday as the Senate dedicated its plenary session to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

Ubah represented Anambra South in the National Assembly and died some ees ago in the UK.

The casket bearing the remains of the senator lay in state at the foyer of the White House wing, directly in front of the Senate Chamber to honour Ubah, who until his death was scheming to contest the next Anambra State governor.

The dayโ€™s order paper carried only one item, โ€˜Valedictory Sessionโ€™.

In a mark of respect, Senate President Godswill Akpabio donned the traditional Isi-Enyi attire, paired with a matching red cap and dark sunglasses.

Also, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele wore Isi-Agwu attire at the session.

The senate adorned Ubahโ€™s seat in the chamber with flowers, and was also draped in a cloth green white and green, the colours of the Nigerian flag.

The senate allowed for an open session which allowed non-senators, dignitaries and other invited guests to pay their last respects to the Anambra senator.

The Vice President Kashim was joined by Ngige, and former Anambra Central Senator Uche Ekwunife were among other top politicians from SAnamnbra at the session.

Also, the wives of presiding and principal Senate officers were present, including Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the Senate President; Hajiya Jibrin Barau, wife of the Deputy Senate President; and Oluyemisi Bamidele, wife of the Senate Leader.

Earlier at the session, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, led a delegation of House leaders in a solemn procession around the late senatorโ€™s casket.
