Wike Reveals Why Bala Mohammed Wants Damagum Removed As PDP National Chairman

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed wants Umar Damagum removed as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because the latter didnโ€™t follow his demands.

The former Governor of Rivers State described Mohammed as being treacherous, alleging that he conspired with others to maintain the chairmanship of the PDP Governorsโ€™ Forum in the Northern region.

Naija News reports that Wike made these remarks during a media briefing held in his office in Abuja on Wednesday.

The FCT Minister said: โ€œWe have never had it this bad in PDP, in terms of leadership, particularly from the chairman of the Governorsโ€™ Forum. Itโ€™s not about talking but about action.

โ€œHow do you know when someone is treacherous? When Tambuwal finished as chairman of the PDP Governorsโ€™ Forum, we had always alternated between North and South.

โ€œBut Bala and others conspired, went to Bauchi, and retained the chairmanship of the PDP Governorsโ€™ Forum in the North.

โ€œOf course, he knows if I were governor, that wouldnโ€™t have happened. He succeeded because of what I call infantile ambition. To be a leader, you must make sacrifices and have the capacity to galvanize people.

โ€œAs an opposition party, people will judge if you are serious about taking over power. Itโ€™s not about talking or appearing on national TV to make accusations. Itโ€™s not about insulting people.

โ€œAs the chairman of the Governorsโ€™ Forum, how has he organized his colleagues in funding the party?

โ€œHow has he made the party efficient through the National Working Committee? How has he ensured they are ready to take over power from the ruling party in Ondo State?

โ€œIt was Bala who said Damagun should complete Ayuโ€™s tenure. When we went to the last NEC meeting and issues arose, it was Bala who sent people to court for an interpretation of the partyโ€™s constitution.

โ€œWhen Damagun didnโ€™t follow his demands, he started saying Damagun must go.โ€
