The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested and detained former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over alleged multi-billion naira fraud.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that Bello, who had been declared wanted by the commission, was arrested at 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday in Abuja after failing to voluntarily surrender.
Oyewale added that while Bello is now in detention, he is being questioned by investigators and will soon face arraignment in court. Three of Bello’s lawyers were present during the arrest.
