The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has commenced the deployment of 1,880 free prepaid meters to Band A customers under the Meter Asset Funds (MAF) Scheme.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by YEDCโs Communications Officer, Blessing Tunoh, on Tuesday. According to the statement, the initiative targets Band A customers who stopped receiving electricity subsidies in April, aiming to enhance billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.
โYola Electricity Distribution Company is pleased to announce the provision of meters under the Meter Acquisition Funds programme. This initiative, targeting unmetered Band A customers within YEDCโs franchise area, is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure accurate billing and improve customer satisfaction,โ the statement read.
The distribution, approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), includes 1,500 single-phase meters and 380 three-phase meters. The installation process will be conducted by approved vendors between November 18 and November 30, 2024.
Initiated on June 13, 2024, the MAF project is part of the Presidential Metering Initiative aimed at accelerating metering across the country.
