Amotekun nabs 3 suspected kidnappers, 19 others in Ondo

The Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun in Ondo State, arrested three suspected kidnappers and 19 other suspects within 14 days across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

The State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, made the disclosure while parading the suspects before newsmen on Tuesday in Akure.

Adeleye said that the other arrested suspects committed offences like robbery, stealing, house breaking and motorcycle theft, among others.

He urged the residents to ensure that all their second hand products had the relevant receipts covering the purchase.

According to him, the command also arrested syndicates which vandalised electrical installations, transformers and another group engaged in stealing of gasoline pumps, car tyres and removal of batteries.

โ€œWe have three suspects arrested for kidnapping, two arrested for suspected robbery, one suspect for burglary and stealing of household items.

โ€œTwo suspects were apprehended for burglary and stealing of electronics. We have three suspects for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

โ€œFor breaking and entering of houses, we have four suspects and five other suspects for stealing of copper wire, motorcycles, sewing machines, and cables,โ€ he said.

The Amotekun Comnander, who charged the public to be weary of visitors allowed into their privacy, said the command had deployed 1,200 Amotekun personnel across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

He said that in collaboration with all other security agencies, the command had mapped out strategies to ensure that influx of visitors did not increase the crime rate in Ondo State.
