The Arewa Youth Assembly has said that the strategies of the Commission Chief Executive (CCE) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Engineer Gbenga Komolafe is responsible for exceeding the regulatorโs revenue target by 49 per cent.
The Speaker of AYA, Alhaji Mohammed Salihu Danlami said this on Thursday in a statement obtained by NewsNGR.
NewsNGR reported how the NUPRC exceeded revenue target by 49 per cent, defiling global oil and gas trends.
The commission revealed at the public interaction hearing organised by the National Assembly (NASS) Joint Committees of Finance and Planning on the 2025โ2027 Medium-Term Fiscal Framework (MTF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) that it exceeded its revenue target by 49 per cent as of October 2024.
The feat has been described by the Arewa Youth Assemble as a โlifeline for governmentโ that is seeking revenue to fund projects.
Danlami said, โIt is really commendable to achieve such a feat amidst onslaughts on oil and gas investments due to the global push for energy transition.
โAchieving such a feat doesnโt come by mere luck or a coincidence, it takes a lot of hard work, commitment, skill, strength, bravery, and strategy, all of which Engineer Gbenga has invested a lot in. As CCE of a regulatory commission, he has significantly blocked leakages and opened up the industry for massive investments despite the divestment of some oil and gas assets.
โWe implore Nigerians to stay calm and expect more as Engineer Gbenga is set to achieve more revenue target and ultimately contribute more revenues for the government to operate effectively through his well thought initiatives which include; project one million per day initiatives, bid round, drill or drop and other mandates as set by the PIA.โ
Komolafe was appointed the CCE of the NUPRC three years ago when the PIA established the commission.
The Northern group said, โSince the inception of this Commission with Engineer Komolafe as the head, its contributions in terms of revenues to the government cannot be overemphasized.
โIndeed, he has become an indispensable pillar necessary for the growth of the oil and gas sector and a big boost to the economy of our country.
According to the group, Komolafe has transformed and restructured the upstream sector and the entire oil and gas industry.
โWe congratulate Nigerians for having such a dedicated, hardworking, selfless, transparent, honest and trustworthy individual as a major player in the oil and gas industry who is driven by improving the countryโs revenue and thus itโs economy,โ the group added.
