The Chairman of Benue State Football Association (BSFA), Chief Paul Edeh, Esq, will on Saturday be conferred with the Honourary Doctorate Degree by the prestigious Benue State University (BSU).
Chief Edeh who arrived the state capital on Friday was among top dignitaries who graced the Convocation Lecture, as part of events heralding the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Combined Convocation Ceremony of BSU.
Speaking ahead of his rare conferment, Chief Edeh, a legal luminary, astute football administrator and club owner, said he feels highly honoured to be selected among the few who will be bestowed a dignified degree status in the higher institute of learning.
Recalling how he has revolutionised from his days as a Law Student at BSU to his present higher heights of life, the Proprietor of Ratel Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), the only owner of two Women Clubs in Nigeria โ Naija Ratels and Honey Badgers said, โIโm so delighted at this time for the recognition by my Alma Mater, an institution which I cherish so much.
โThe honour is such that Iโm glad and grateful for. It will certainly spur me to do more than I have done in the service of God and humanity. For me, being alive is an opportunity to make many impacts by touching as many lives as possible.
โSo Iโm committed to this course and I will ever remain focused in doing more.โ
BSU had few years ago honoured Chief Edeh with a notable distinguished humanitarian award.
Over the years, Chief Edeh has been known for his numerous humanitarian exploits including giving many higher institution, students and primary school children scholarships in Benue State and parts of Nigeria as well as providing educational equipment at BSU and other citadel of learnings.
Earlier, at the Convocation Lecture declared open by the BSU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tor Joe Iorapuu, an erudite globally reputable scholar, Professor Toyin Falola, spoke on the need to deplore and devolve power at any level in the context of human capacity building in every society using politics as a platform for peaceful co-existence and equitable resources management and control, adding, โPower is the driver of transformation; politics shape power and policies, policies and governmental performance deliver growth and transformative change.
โPower is the foundation of change, politics must manage power and society, politics and good governance must deliver development and revolutionary transformation.โ
The theme of the Convocation is โPower, Politics and Policiesโ.
Before then, the Vice Chancellor of BSU Prof. Iorapuu reckoned that with various transformational strides, the university is โback on the path of progressionโ.
