U.S. President Joe Biden has officially declared January 9 as a national day of mourning in honor of the late former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100.
In a proclamation issued on Sunday, Biden called on Americans to gather at their places of worship to “pay homage” to Carter’s memory.
“I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President James Earl Carter, Jr.,” Biden stated.
