Bode George Urges Tinubu to Reduce Fuel Price to N300

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the price of fuel to N300 per litre, saying it would enable Nigerians to celebrate the festive season with joy.

George made the plea at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, where he also expressed confidence that the PDP will overcome its current challenges before the 2027 elections.

According to George, the reduction in petrol price should commence immediately, and the government can absorb the losses.

He cited December and January as critical months for Nigerians, and reducing fuel prices during this period would send a message of happiness across the country.

โ€œIt is time for President Tinubu to give back to the people who voted him into power,โ€ George said.

โ€œThe government can absorb the losses. With this, you will be sending a lot of messages of happiness across the tribes and homes. Everybody in Nigeria will be happy because it will positively impact this period of the year.โ€

The PDP leader also touched on the partyโ€™s internal crisis, stating that every organization in the world is riddled with challenges.

He assured that the party will overcome its current issues and emerge stronger.

George also spoke about the importance of zoning and rotation of party positions and elective offices, as enshrined in Section 7 (3c) of the PDP constitution.

He lamented that some individuals have allowed their ambition to supersede the partyโ€™s corporate interest.

โ€œThe ambition of an individual should not be higher than the party,โ€ George emphasized.

โ€œWho are you? If you want to be president, itโ€™s not worth destroying your party over it.โ€

The former PDP deputy chairmanโ€™s remarks come as Nigerians prepare for the upcoming festive season amidst economic challenges and rising fuel prices.

The call for a reduction in fuel price has been a long-standing demand from various quarters, and Georgeโ€™s advocacy is expected to add pressure on the government to take action.
