A magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti has granted N30m bail to lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi, in the alleged defamation suit filed by Afe Babalola, the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti.
The presiding magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, in a ruling on Friday, granted him bail with two sureties in like sum.
Farotimi who was arrested in Lagos on December 3 by operatives of the Ekiti state police command was arraigned on December 4 on a 16-court charge of defamation of character.
In a separate suit before the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Farotimi was on December 9 granted N50m bail with two sureties in like sum while adjoining hearing till January 29.
