BREAKING: Troops destroy bandits hideout in Benue

Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have successfully dislodged bandits in Taraba and Benue states.

On Friday, the troops carried out a coordinated clearance operation in Akahagu and China villages within the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The operation, dubbed โ€˜Operation Golden Peaceโ€™, is designed to restore peace and security to the region.

Brig. Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their courage and determination during the operation.

The operation also targeted Ikayor village, where the troops clashed with bandits associated with a notorious criminal, Akiki Utiv, also known as โ€˜Full Fireโ€™. The bandits were forced to retreat after the troops deployed significant firepower.

During the operation, the troops recovered a red Toyota Corolla, a motorcycle, military camouflage trousers, and a Beretta pistol, among other items.

The military has reassured the residents of Taraba and Benue states of its unwavering commitment to upholding peace and security in the region.
