The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has swiftly debunked the sensational and unfounded claims that it uncovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and drugs worth ₦1 trillion at the residence of Bello El-Rufai, the eldest son of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.
In a brief but firm statement posted on its official Facebook page, the commission dismissed the rumors, labeling them as entirely false.
This response came in light of widespread speculations suggesting that the EFCC had made such a staggering discovery at Bello El-Rufai’s home in Kaduna State.
However, the agency was quick to clarify that these reports were a baseless distortion of its activities.
The EFCC urged Nigerians to ignore the misleading headlines, stating:
“‘EFCC Discovers $800 Million, ₦700 Billion Cash, and ₦1 Trillion Worth of Drugs at Nasir El-Rufai Son’s House in Kaduna’ This piece of news quoted above is a false narrative of the activities of the EFCC. Members of the public are enjoined to ignore it.”
In a similar vein, Bello El-Rufai also vehemently denied the claims, assuring the public that no such discovery had been made at his residence.
