Renowned Ghanaian actor and filmmaker, John Dumelo, has etched his name in the annals of political history, clinching victory in the fiercely contested Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary election.
Running under the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumelo triumphed over the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the countryโs general elections held on the 7th of December, 2024.
Dumeloโs win was emphatic, securing 40,561 votes compared to Alhassanโs 27,377.
This landmark victory comes four years after he narrowly missed out on the same seat in 2020.
The actor-turned-politician, who first graced the silver screen in 1991 as a young schoolboy, has become a household name in both Gollywood and Nollywood, starring in numerous movies.
Now, his cinematic charisma and relentless drive have found a new stage in Ghanaโs political arena marking the beginning of what promises to be an inspiring chapter in his journey.
