In a revealing statement, Nigerian rapper Reminisce has shed light on how the music industry has shifted, with money now playing a larger role than musical talent in determining a hit song.
During his appearance on the I Said What I Said podcast, Reminisce highlighted a significant transformation in the industry, where the focus has moved from the quality of music to the size of the budget backing a song.
He shared, โThe game has now changed to another phase. The phase where you now have to spend money to get hits. Money now produces hits, not music anymore.
Thatโs the phase we are in now. Whatever song you see [popping], go ask what the marketing budget was. Thatโs what determines how big a song is. Itโs no longer just music anymore.โ
