The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has taken a decisive step by dissolving the boards of all commissions within the state’s public service.
This bold move was announced on the 17th of December, 2024, in Benin City through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Umar Ikhilor, who declared that the dissolution takes effect immediately.
Ikhilor directed all chairmen and members of the affected commissions to promptly hand over government properties in their possession to the most senior public officers in their respective commissions.
The affected bodies include key institutions such as the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Edo State Forestry Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, State Audit Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission.
This sweeping action marks a significant restructuring within Edo State’s public service framework.
