I Inspired Wizkid to Embrace Afrobeats — Eldee Reveals

Veteran singer Eldee The Don has shed light on his pivotal role in shaping the early career of Grammy-winning artist Wizkid.

During a candid appearance on the Adesope Live show, Eldee shared that he was instrumental in steering Wizkid towards afrobeats.

He revealed that the budding star, who was signed to EME Records at the time, initially gravitated towards Reggae and Dancehall.

“Wizkid was leaning towards Reggae and Dancehall when Banky W signed him before he dropped his first single, but I told him he has to find a middle ground and do something Nigerian with a lot of flavors in it,” Eldee recounted.

Taking Eldee’s advice to heart, Wizkid began creating Afropop tracks, including the hit song ‘Don’t Dull’, which catapulted him to stardom and solidified his place in the music industry.
