Former Super Eagles and Olympique De Marseille left-back, Taye Ismaila Taiwo, has urged Nottingham Forest to tie Ola Aina to a new long-term deal as they risk losing him for free in the summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old versatile full-back has been rock solid for the Reds this season, playing in all of their 18 Premier League games so far this term, while scoring two goals on the attacking side.
He’s been labelled as one of the best full-backs in England by all and sundry this campaign and has been included in Troy Deeney’s BBC Team of the Week twice.
Aina’s current deal with Forest runs out in the summer and with the January transfer window opening in three days, the former Chelsea defender can enter into pre-contract talks with any club.
To prevent this, former Nigeria defender, Taye Taiwo, has urged Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to make a quick decision about his international compatriot, or he’ll be off in the summer.
“Nottingham Forest cannot afford to let Aina leave for free in June. It is time to act. Unless they propose a new contract, it should already be in discussions with potential contenders. To me, he is one of the league’s best right laterals, so it will have no trouble finding a new club,” the former AC Milan defender said in quotes revealed by Africa Foot.

Forest are currently in talks with the former Torino defender, with an increased salary included in the offer, as previously reported by Soccernet.ng. However, there’s been no official announcement so far.
Ola Aina doesn’t seem to be bothered about his contract situation at the City Ground, as he’s enjoying his best-ever season in the English top-flight.
