The Board of Directors of Julius Berger Plc has announced the appointment of Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh as the Chairman of the Board of the Company for a term of three years with effect from April 1, 2025.
The appointment was contained in the companyโs notice to the Nigerian Exchange Limited seen by NewsNGR.
This follows the exit of Mr Mutiu Sunmonu as the chairman of the Board with effect from March 31, 2025.
The statement reads:
โThis is to notify Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the public that with effect from March 31, 2025, our inestimable Chairman, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, will exit the Board of Julius Berger.
โMr. Sunmonu was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Board of Julius Berger on January 1, 2015 and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company on April 1, 2016.
โIn accordance and alignment with Julius Bergerโs Succession Planning Policy which would allow for a seamless transition and continuity in the leadership of the Board, that would sustain the growth and resilience of Julius Berger, the Directors at the Board meeting held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, elected Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh as the Chairman of the Board for a term of 3 (three) years with effect from April 1, 2025โ.
According to the statement signed by the Company Secretary, Cecilia Ekanem Madueke, Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh is a graduate of the University of Exeter, Camborne School of Mines, England where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Minerals Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science Degree from the Imperial College, University of London, in Minerals Process Design Engineering.
He has over 35 years of cognate, international and strategic experience in Mining, Oil and Gas operations, particularly in the public sector, which commenced with the Nigerian Mining Corporation, Jos, and from which sector he retired as Federal Permanent Secretary in July 2015.
He is the Executive Vice Chairman, of Oriental Energy Resources Limited and sits on the boards of directors of Ezikel Refinery Limited, Nigserve Energy Services Limited and Julius Berger Investments Limited.
