Shettima Mohammed has officially assumed office as the 29th Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, succeeding Shehu Nadada, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
In a statement, the state’s police public relations officer, Ranham Nansel, confirmed Mohammed’s arrival in Lafia, the state capital.
The new police commissioner called for the collaboration of the general public, urging citizens to provide actionable information to assist the police in tackling crime decisively across the state.
Mohammed, originally from Mubi North Local Government Area in Adamawa State, holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education from the University of Maiduguri.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Over the years, he has held several key positions, including Acting Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Deputy Commissioner of Police in the State Criminal Investigation Department (Lafia), Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations (Zone 8 Lokoja), and in Gombe State Command.
As he takes on this critical role, Mohammed’s vast experience in law enforcement is expected to play a key role in maintaining peace and security in Nasarawa State.
