โฆSay Upgrade Of Plant Will Guarantee Energy Security For Nigerians
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, the National Union of Petroleum and Engineering Gas Workers and other stakeholders on Tuesday hailed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd for the commencement of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery and Petrochemical Company.
The NMDPRA Chief Executive, Farouk Ahmed made the commendation during an interactive inspection tour of the facility.
Ahmed described the refinery as an important asset in the country and said the Upgrade was done in line with global best practices.
He said as a regulator, the NMDPRA is satisfied with the rate of compliance by the NNPCL with environmental standards in the operation of the refinery.
Ahmed congratulated the NNPC Ltd for the milestone and assured of his agencyโs continued support towards the completion of rehabilitation work at the other refineries.
He said, โThis is an old plant that has been upgraded with new technology. The plant is up and running and the plant is very clean without smoke. The plant has shown compliance with environmental regulations and I want to have and I congratulate the NNPC and PH Refinery for this milestone
The Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC Ltd. Mr. Mele Kyari described the commencement of the loadout activities as a monumental achievement for Nigeria which signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for the country.
The GCEO particularly thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and understanding towards the rehabilitation project and for his persistence to ensure energy security for the country.
Kyari also expressed deep appreciation to the NNPC Ltd Board of Directors and the entire staff for their support and commitment, which crystallized into the streaming of the refinery.
He also commended the contractors for doing a great job in ensuring that the refinery is delivered despite all challenges.
The GCEO further thanked Nigerians for their patience and for the legitimate expectations on the Company to deliver on the other refineries.
Kyari said, โThe person who needs commendation is President Bola Tinubu for his support which is monumental. WIthout his support, it is impossible to do this. I thank the NNPC Ltd and the board and we will deliver the rest project and they will come in soon.
