FORMER governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has pledged to meet the bail conditions for human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi, who was granted bail by an Ekiti Magistrate Court in a defamation case involving Afe Babalola.

The bail terms include a N30 million bond, two sureties (one of whom must own a property), surrendering his passport, and refraining from media interviews.

In a statement shared yesterday via his X account, Tanko Yunusa, a former spokesperson for Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, revealed that Obi, as a staunch advocate for the rule of law, sought a resolution that respects legal processes and benefits all parties.

“I consulted His Excellency, Peter Obi, as the leader of the Obidient Movement. As a firm believer in the rule of law, due process, and order, he offered to fulfill the bail conditions for Dele Farotimi,” Yunusa said.

“His priority is to ensure the matter is resolved in the best interest of all parties and our legal system. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the courts and all those involved in addressing the issue.”
