The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has donated N10 million to Madonna College of Health Technology in Olokoro, Abia State, as part of his ongoing commitment to supporting critical sectors such as health, education, and poverty alleviation.
Obi made the donation following his visit to the Women Fellowship Pastoral Project in Umuahia, where he reiterated his dedication to improving the country’s health and educational institutions.
During the visit to Madonna College, Obi praised the institution for its role in training health professionals, particularly at a time when Nigeria is facing a severe shortage of qualified personnel in the health sector. He emphasized that schools like Madonna College are crucial in bridging this gap and are deserving of further support.
“Institutions like these, which contribute immeasurably to the training of health professionals, should be supported to do more,” Obi said in his address.
The former Anambra State Governor also reiterated his call for increased government funding for the health and education sectors, urging the need for aggressive investment to secure the future of the nation.
In his speech to students, Obi encouraged them to view their education as a means to contribute positively to society and to become change agents in the development of Nigeria.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to the institution’s proprietor, management, and staff for their continued efforts in shaping the future of the health sector.
