President Tinubu Approves New Executive Management for 12 River Basin Authorities

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a 72-member executive management team for 12 River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who outlined the composition of the executive teams.

โ€œThe President has approved the reconstitution of the Executive Management of 12 River Basin Development Authorities under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources,โ€ the statement read.

The appointments, covering RBDAs across Nigeria, include positions for chairpersons, managing directors, and executive directors in charge of finance, agriculture, engineering, and planning.

Ogun-Osun RBDA (Abeokuta): Hon. Odebunmi Olusegun (Chairman, Oyo), Engr. Dr. Adedeji Ashiru (Managing Director, Osun).

Upper Benue RBDA (Yola): Alh. Sanusi Mohammed Babantanko (Chairman, Bauchi), Samuel Mahmud Mohammed (Managing Director, Taraba).

Chad Basin RBDA (Maiduguri): Prof. Abdu Dauda (Chairman, Borno), Tijjani Musa Tumsa (Managing Director, Yobe).

Niger Delta RBDA (Port Harcourt): Chief (Barr.) Ebikemi Boi Bosin (Chairman, Delta), Hon. Amgbare Ebitimi (Managing Director, Bayelsa).

Lower Niger RBDA (Ilorin): Alh. Abdullateef Alakawa (Chairman, Kwara), Engr. George Olumoroti (Managing Director, Kogi).

The appointments are seen as part of the Tinubu administrationโ€™s broader strategy to enhance water resource management, boost agricultural productivity, and drive economic development across the country.

The reconstituted management teams are expected to oversee the implementation of critical projects and policies within their respective regions, addressing water resource challenges and supporting federal development initiatives.
