The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers on Wednesday, following the conclusion of recommendations by its Standing Committee on Police Promotions, chaired by DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd.).
The PSC’s Plenary session, which resumed on Monday, included interviews for shortlisted CPs and DCPs, followed by interviews for ACPs to DCPs and CSPs to ACPs. As a result, 11 Commissioners of Police (CPs) were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to substantive CPs.
On Tuesday, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, while 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were elevated to Assistant Commissioners of Police.
CSP Odum Williams from the Operation Department, Anambra State Command, was among those promoted.
A statement from the commission confirmed the promotion of 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), including notable officers such as:
Anjuguri Manzah, DCO, Onne Port Division
Ihunwo Josephine, Zonal PRO Zone 13 Ukpo
Matilda Umiah Ngbaronye, former Public Information Officer, African Union Mission in Somalia
Opara Angela Precious, IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Abuja
Felix Ekpoudom, O/C Quick Intervention Unit, Akwa Ibom State
Ehinola Temitope Layomi, 2 PMF, Lagos
Okebugwu Eggbath Chidozie, DPO, Abakaliki Road
Okereke Joy Onyedikachu, O/C Servicom, Enugu State Command
The commission also promoted 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to Superintendents of Police (SPs), including:
Nnakwe Ugochukwu, Ebonyi State Command
Nioopwa Sondago, Fayiwole Julius Oluwadare
Ruth Danladi, Admin Officer, Crack Squad, FCT Command
Ozoeze Victoria Chekwubechukwu, O/C JWC, Osisioma Division, Abia State
Additionally, 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) were promoted to DSPs, with notable ASPs such as:
