Report: Injury knocks Victor Osimhen out of crucial Europa League tie against Malmo

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League clash against Malmo on Thursday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been impressive for Galatasaray since his season-long loan transfer from Napoli last summer. The 25-year-old Nigeria international has registered ten goals and five assists in 13 appearances for the Lions.

In his last game, Osimhen scored for Galatasaray to help them claim a 3-2 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Turkish champions’ next game is a Europa League fixture against Malmo at the Eleda Stadion. However, they will be without their stars man.

According to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Osimhen will be out of action for Galatasaray’s game against Malmo on Thursday. This is due to a strain in his hamstring.

Nonetheless, the issue is not expected to keep Osimhen out of action for a long time. He is recovering quickly and could return to action against Trabzonspor next weekend.

Galatasaray currently sit fourth in the Europa League standings, two points behind leaders Lazio. Malmo, on the other hand, are 30th on the log.

A win for the Lions would take them a step closer to sealing qualification for the knockout rounds, with just two games left in the group stage.
