The Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Rivers State has refunded the school fees of students who had already paid for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The decision follows the receipt of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) from the Federal Government.
According to a statement from the university, the refund is a direct result of the NELFUND payment, which has covered the tuition fees of the affected students.
The Acting Registrar, Dr. Ajie assured that all eligible students will receive a full refund of their already paid school fees.
The development is a welcome relief for the students, who can now enjoy a financial reprieve. The university’s decision to refund the school fees demonstrates its commitment to transparency and accountability.
The statement reads: “On behalf of the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, we congratulate all students who applied for the 2023/2024 Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the upkeep fund through the NelFund Portal (https://nelf.gov.ng/).
“The University Management has therefore directed for the refund of the loan to all students who applied for NELFUND. Consequently, upon the above, all students who applied for the loan and have paid their school fees will be refunded immediately as NELFUND has completed the fee payment for the students.
“In addition, students who applied for the loan and have not paid their school fees will have a corresponding fees receipt automated in their portal as NELFUND has paid their fees for the 2023/2024 academic session.”
