The scramble for the Edo Central senatorial seat is set to begin with the withdrawal of Senator Monday Okpebholo from the upper legislative chamber.
This followed Senate’s declaration of the seat vacant following the emergence of Okpebholo as governor of Edo State.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio officially declared the seat vacant during plenary on Wednesday.
Consequently, Akpabio called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to initiate the process of bye election to fill the vacant seat.
Fresh election into the beat will see as many political parties jostling for the position in the months ahead.
