The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has issued a clarion call for greater “peace and harmony” between herders and farmers throughout the state.
During a meeting on the 19th of December, 2024, with the leadership of the state chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at his Jalingo office, Opara underscored the pivotal role of dialogue and mutual understanding in achieving sustainable development.
He highlighted that fostering peaceful coexistence between these groups is not only vital for their livelihoods but also serves as a cornerstone for economic growth and stability in Taraba and beyond.
Commending MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with law enforcement, he described their partnership as a significant stride toward promoting peace and security.
Reiterating his dedication to protecting lives and property, the commissioner pledged that the police command would spare no effort in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
“We will leave no stone unturned in maintaining peace and stability in Taraba State,” Opara affirmed, emphasizing the need for joint conflict-resolution efforts to create a secure environment for all residents.
In response, Alhaji Ya’u Ibrahim Barewa, the Chairman of MACBAN, assured the commissioner of the association’s unwavering support in fostering peaceful coexistence.
He praised the longstanding collaboration between MACBAN and the police, vowing to strengthen their shared commitment to peace and cooperation.
