President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared that his administration is committed to positioning Nigeria as a leading agricultural export nation by 2025.
The President made this statement during the inauguration of the “Earn from the Soil” campaign at the National Convergence for the Renewed Hope Agenda, held at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.
Represented by Mr Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Regional Development, Tinubu emphasised the transformative potential of the initiative in achieving national food security and economic prosperity.
He described the campaign as a food security initiative capable of turning subsistence farming into robust, export-driven opportunities.
“We are not seeking traditional aid from our partners but strategic support that transforms our economic ecosystem,” he said.
Tinubu urged local and international investors to explore opportunities in Nigeria’s South-South region and beyond, emphasising that the nation is “open for business.”
He called on young people and women, in particular, to embrace the initiative, stating, “Your energy, creativity, and determination will drive Nigeria’s economic revolution.”
The President also highlighted the strategic importance of the South-South region, describing it as a hub of untapped resources beyond oil and gas.
“This region is very blessed in natural resources and extraordinary human capacity. When properly harnessed, it has the potential to embody the transformative potential of Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing all necessary support for the implementation of the “Earn from the Soil” project to achieve its set objectives.
Earlier, Hon. Gift Johnbull, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for the South-South, described the event as a platform for dialogue, innovation, and action.
She called on investors and business leaders to recognise the region’s potential and partner with the government to unlock opportunities for national and global impact.
“This convergence is a movement—a call to action for every individual here to play a part in shaping the future of not just the South-South region alone, but Nigeria at large,” Johnbull said.
