Woman’s Head, Other Body Parts Recovered From Ogun Ritual Suspect

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Taiwo Yemitan, for alleged ritual murder in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed that Yemitan was arrested at 1:40 a.m. at his residence behind Atinsola Petrol Station in the Sanni area of Abeokuta.

Odutola said Yemitan was found in possession of a fresh human head and dismembered body parts of a female victim.

The PRO said the arrest followed a tip-off from a local security group known as the Agbekoya and vigilante operatives.

“The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased identified as Darasimi, whom he lured to his residence with the intent to kill her. He confessed to the murder, naming two other individuals as Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem, as accomplices in the criminal act.

“Their intention was to sell the victims head and other body parts,” he said.

Odutola stated that the dismembered remains of the victim have been taken to the morgue at General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, for post-mortem examination, and noted that efforts are ongoing to arrest the accomplices and locate the victim’s family.

She added that Yemitan will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Odutola recalled a similar incident earlier this year, when another suspect, Azeez Adebayo, confessed to killing three women he lured through “hookup” arrangements.

Odutola warned young women about the dangers of engaging in “hookup” practices, and stressed that many victims of ritual killings are targeted through such activities.

She urged parents to monitor their daughters closely and provide proper guidance to prevent them from falling prey to such heinous crimes.

Last week, the Ogun Police Command announced the arrest of one Oladeyo Idowu and Monday Ogunniyi at the Oja-Odan area of the state for alleged ritual activities.

Idowu was said to have reported to the police the case of abduction of one Regina Oladeyo against Ogunniyi, after which police operatives investigated and found that the kidnapped victim was with Ogunniyi.

But during the investigation, Ogunniyi allegedly confessed to the abduction crime and claimed that Idowu was his accomplice.
