The Federal Government has announced December 25, December 26, and January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day celebrations.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, said the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

Dr Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to Nigerians and urged them to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity during the festive period.

“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal.

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he stated.

The minister emphasised the significance of fostering harmony and strengthening bonds within families and communities, urging citizens to remain committed to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation.

He assured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring security and prosperity nationwide, adding that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu’s administration would bring economic progress in the coming year.

Dr Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025.
