Zamfara NSCDC apprehends suspected car thief in Gusau

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspected car thief attempting to sell a stolen vehicle in Gusau, the state capital.

On December 12, 2024, Mr. Alkasim Muhammad Kabir, a 33-year-old resident of Kano State, reported the theft of his Mercedes-Benz C300 (registration number DAL68HK Kano), along with a Samsung Galaxy A55 5G and an iPhone 12.

Tracking efforts revealed the suspectโ€™s route from Kano State through Dayi, Malumfashi, and Funtua en route to Zamfara State.

Acting on intelligence reports, the NSCDC apprehended 30-year-old Muhammad Dauda Ismail, an indigene of Dala Local Government Area, Kano State, on December 15, 2024, in Gusau.

Ismail was found in possession of the stolen Mercedes-Benz C300, a Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, and $7,000 in suspected counterfeit currency.

He confessed to obtaining the items under false pretenses, claiming he left the ownerโ€™s residence to refill gas at a plant in Kano but absconded instead.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be arraigned before a court upon completion.

The NSCDC urges the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to assist in the fight against crime.
