In a significant step towards enhancing security across Abia State, the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, has reactivated the Abia Command’s Radio Communications Office to operate 24 hours daily.
The announcement was made on Friday in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, who highlighted that the revamped office is designed to cater to the security needs of residents in 2025.
The reactivation includes extending the office’s communication coverage to all parts of the state, ensuring seamless operations with upgraded equipment and the replacement of outdated systems.
“This is for enhanced efficiency in managing directives and responding promptly to security emergencies across Abia,” Chinaka said.
Addressing officers of the Communications Department, CP Danladi Isa underscored the department’s crucial role in maintaining state-wide security.
He urged officers to remain proactive, diligent, and duty-conscious, stressing the importance of prompt response to directives. Isa also mandated round-the-clock operations in the control room, with technicians available daily to address any technical challenges.
The CP warned that laxity, indiscipline, and negligence among officers would not be tolerated, adding that strategic officers who fail to respond to radioed directives promptly would face disciplinary action.
The reactivation is expected to strengthen the command’s ability to manage emergencies efficiently, fostering greater public trust in law enforcement.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the command, now equipped with enhanced communication capabilities.
This move marks a forward step in Abia State’s commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
