Access Bank Acting MD Faces Arrest Order in Property Theft Case

A Lagos State High Court judge has ordered the arrest of Access Bank‘s acting Managing Director Bolaji Agbede and three other defendants for failing to appear at their arraignment hearing. The arrest order, issued by Justice Ibironke Harrison, also includes Balmoral International Limited, DDSS International Company Limited, and Adejare Adegbenro.

The Lagos State government has charged the defendants with conspiracy, stealing, and attempted theft. According to prosecutors, the defendants allegedly used MOB Integrated Services’ property at Plot 40b, Burdillion Road, Ikoyi, as loan security without consent in 2013. They are also accused of attempting to steal the same property in 2019 by granting a ₦1 billion credit facility to DDSS International Company Limited.

Despite being served notice, none of the defendants appeared for their scheduled arraignment. Justice Harrison directed that the bench warrant be executed against the principal officers and scheduled the next hearing for February 24, 2025.

The charges fall under Sections 411, 280, and 21 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
