SUPER EAGLES striker Umar Sadiq has joined Valencia on loan from fellow LaLiga club Real Sociedad.
“Valencia CF has reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the signing of Sadiq Umar until June 30, 2025,” the club stated today.
“The attacker, a Nigerian international, arrives on loan until the end of the current season and Valencia CF will have an option to buy him at the end of the season.
“Sadiq Umar joins the Club after his time at Real Sociedad . Prior to his time at the ‘txuri-urdin’ team, he spent three seasons at UD Almería, a team where he scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 84 games played. In the 2021-2022 campaign, he was one of the main architects of the Almería team’s promotion to LALIGA EA SPORTS.
“The striker also has international experience, highlighting his presence in clubs such as Partizan Belgrade, Perugia, Rangers, NAC Breda, Torino, Bologna, Roma and Spezia.”
Sadiq’s transfer is the first for Valencia under new manager Carlos Corberan, although they are believed to have been working on the deal prior to the coach’s return to the club.
The 27-year-old Nigerian international’s time at Real Sociedad was marred by injuries, and he scored only three goals last season from 26 LaLiga appearances (12 starts).
Sadiq is yet to score this term, having made 11 appearances in all competitions (three starts).
As part of the agreement, Valencia have a purchase clause of less than €10m this summer, according to Marca – with the club also paying a €1m loan fee.
Valencia have scored just 17 goals from 18 league games this season and Corberan will be hoping Sadiq can turn that form around.
