Diri Urges Nigerians To Collaborate With Military

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has tasked Nigerians to collaborate with the military to ensure lasting peace in the country.

Governor Diri gave the charge at the armed forces remembrance service, held at the King of Glory Chapel in Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor while appreciating the military for their role in maintaining peace in Nigeria, also stated that the state government will continue to collaborate and work in synergy with them.

โ€œWe are gathered today to appreciate God for the lives of some very special group of people, the people who have dedicated their lives to keep our country as one.

โ€œWe appreciate those who have paid the supreme price for the peace and unity of this country. As a state, we will continue to stand in support of the armed forces of Nigeria, particularly those that have been posted to our state and working in harmony with the state to bring peace and unity,โ€ Governor Diri stated.

The governor was joined at the church service by, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, represented by the leader of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Edwin Monday Bubou Obolo and other members of the state House of Assembly.

Others included Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), Immediate past deputy governor of Bayelsa State and Chairman, Bayelsa Elders Council, Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye, Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, represented by the president of the customary court of appeal, . Justice Daniel Ayah, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, Secretary to the state government, Barr. (Mrs) Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, Head of service, Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Akpe, Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, members of the state executive council, service commanders, Traditional Rulers and other top government officials.
