Ten officers from the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been arrested and detained in connection with investigation of some missing items.
The commissionโs spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.
The officers, whose identities were not disclosed, were arrested last week on orders of the EFCC Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, to respond to enquiries about the theft of the operational items that they were unable to account for.
The anti-graft agency said the investigators are making progress and those found guilty will face internal disciplinary procedures.
On Monday, the EFCC announced dismissal of twenty seven officers from its workforce in 2024.
The officers were dismissed for various crimes bordering on fraudulent activities and misconduct.
โTheir dismissal, following the recommendation of the staff disciplinary committee of the commission was ratified by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
โEvery modicum of allegation against any staff of the Commission would always be investigated, including a trending $400,000 claim of a yet-to-be-identified supposed staff of the EFCC against a Sectional Head.
โThe core values of the Commission are sacrosanct and would always be held in optimal regard at all times,โ the commission had said in a statement.
