The Federal Government has charged newly promoted directors to take a proactive role in the ongoing reform agenda of the Federal Civil Service.
This call was made by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, during an induction training for the directors at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Mrs. Walson-Jack, in her address, introduced the theme for the year: “FCSSIP25: Final Sprint – Delivering Results,” with the slogan “2025: Year of Accomplishments.”
She urged the directors to align their efforts with the current administration’s vision under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of leadership, innovation, and collaboration.
“Your new positions should inspire you to lead with purpose as you execute your duties,” Walson-Jack stated. “The final year of the FCSSIP25 presents an opportunity to consolidate the reforms that aim to create a world-class civil service.”
She encouraged the directors to embody the core values of FCSSIP25: accountability, meritocracy, professionalism, loyalty, and efficiency, stressing that these principles are essential for building a responsive and transparent Civil Service.
The Head of Civil Service also reminded the newly promoted directors of their crucial role in the effectiveness of government operations, which directly impact the lives of millions of Nigerians.
In his address, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of the AIG Imoukhuede Foundation, highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in restoring public trust in the civil service.
He urged the directors to embrace integrity, empathy, and resilience while fostering innovation and teamwork within their teams.
He stressed, “A nation is only as strong as its civil service, and your role is pivotal in driving reforms that deliver real results.”
One of the inductees, Dr. Adeyemi Aminchi, Director of Legal Services in the Office of the HCSF, commended the structured induction program.
She noted, “This training demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that leaders in the civil service are well-equipped to meet the challenges of modern governance.”
The induction session introduced the directors to key reform initiatives such as the Service-Wise GPT, Govmail, the Compendium of Circulars, and the Federal Civil Service Online Academy, aiming to equip them with the tools to effectively drive change and innovation in their respective roles.
As part of the broader civil service reform efforts, the induction serves as a key investment in the future of the Civil Service, empowering the directors to lead with vision, integrity, and accountability, ensuring they meet the expectations of the Nigerian populace in the coming years.
