A fire outbreak on Saturday evening in the Alaro Alapata area of Sango, Ibadan, Oyo State, has destroyed property worth millions of naira.
The incident, which razed no fewer than seven shops, left traders counting their losses. The cause of the fire remains unknown as of Sunday.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, said firefighters responded swiftly to the emergency.
โOn arrival, we found seven shops fully engulfed in flames. We quickly contained the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby shops and buildings,โ Akinyinka stated.
He added that while properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, firefighters were able to save properties worth billions. Thankfully, no casualties were recorded.
The fire service noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
