Funke Akindele Responds to Wearing Ring Post-Divorce

Nollywood icon and filmmaker Funke Akindele recently addressed criticism from a concerned fan who questioned her choice to wear a ring on her “marriage finger” despite being divorced.

The fan, identified as @OriretanHonour on X, expressed concern that this habit might hinder her chances of finding love again.

In a strongly worded post, the fan advised: “Funke, it’s unwise to still wear a ring on your marriage finger knowing you’re divorced. Even worse, it might chase away your future husband. Little things count now that you’re still famous, hot, and rich. Mind your public acts. Remove the ring now. You need a man in your life ASAP. Act fast. Be wise.”

Responding with her trademark wit, the mother of two brushed off the criticism, stating that her current focus lies elsewhere.

“I need money! That’s the koko,” she replied, signaling her commitment to financial independence over societal expectations.

Recall that the role interpreter has been married and divorced twice.

Her first marriage to Mr. Oloyede in May 2012 ended just over a year later, in July 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.

Her second union with music producer JJC Skillz lasted until 2022, during which they welcomed twins.

In a candid interview with Wazobia FM last year, Akindele reflected on her marital journey, emphasizing that being divorced twice does not define her or render her a failure.
