Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, a resident of Orozo, a border town between Abuja and Nasarawa State, was arrested by local authorities following the discovery of a severed human head within the premises of a local church.
The incident occurred during a Sunday thanksgiving service after a seven-day fasting period.
According to witnesses, Ajayi exhibited suspicious behavior, including attempting to dispose of a black bag in a nearby river. This, coupled with the testimony of motorcyclists who transported Ajayi and observed blood dripping from the bag, aroused the suspicion of church members.
Following a brief chase, Ajayi was apprehended. Upon examination of the discarded bag, authorities found the severed head of a young woman, later identified as Ajayiโs girlfriend.
Ajayi, reportedly injured during the apprehension, confessed to the murder. He claimed the killing occurred during a heated argument, escalating to a physical altercation where he fatally stabbed his girlfriend in the neck.
He also made a disturbing claim that he was instructed by an unidentified โwomanโ to bring the severed head to her.
The police have taken Ajayi into custody and are investigating the matter further.
