The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, inaugurated 13 new permanent secretaries on Tuesday, urging them to avoid partisan politics and focus on their roles with discipline and integrity.
Speaking at the ceremony in Makurdi, Alia emphasised the weight of their responsibilities and directed them to ensure compliance with civil service codes. He called for discipline and respect for established authorities among their staff.
The governor warned against any conduct that could tarnish the governmentโs image, stating that erring officials would face disciplinary measures.
โYou must avoid partisan politics and conduct yourselves as responsive and responsible officers committed to implementing the administrationโs policies and programmes in line with its seven-point agenda,โ Alia said. โOur eyes will be on you, not to police you but to ensure you do the right things at all times.โ
