In a move to address growing concerns, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has set up a four-member committee tasked with investigating the allegations surrounding the recent recruitment of teachers by the Nasarawa State Teachers’ Service Commission (NSTSC) across the state’s 13 local government areas.
The committee was formally inaugurated at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital.
During the ceremony, Governor Sule underscored the importance of diligence, fairness, and transparency in carrying out the investigation.
He urged the committee to prove that their appointment was well-placed, delivering an impartial and thorough examination of the matter at hand.
Expressing his concern over reports that certain government officials involved in the recruitment process had exceeded the approved number of teachers, Governor Sule ordered the immediate suspension of the NSTSC chairman and its members.
“This situation is worrisome and capable of tarnishing the image of the government and the state if left unchecked. It is imperative to ensure accountability, transparency, and due diligence in the conduct of government affairs,” the governor remarked.
The committee has been given the crucial task of verifying the allegations and providing recommendations to resolve the matter, ensuring that the integrity of the recruitment process is upheld.
