Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed claims of his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), labeling the rumors as baseless and politically motivated.
Speaking through a close aide, El-Rufai described the speculations as the work of “mischief makers,” emphasizing that as a prominent political figure, any change in his political allegiance would be publicly announced.
Taking to his verified X account (formerly Twitter), the former governor urged the public to disregard the false reports and revealed that legal action is being taken against those responsible for spreading the misinformation.
“Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” El-Rufai wrote on Sunday.
The statement underscores his continued loyalty to the APC amidst ongoing political speculations.
